At Epiphany, it's no secret that we are passionate about local brands and getting to know the people who live and breathe them. Every brand has a unique story and every founder an innate passion for what they do. We believe that getting to know the people behind the brands is one of the most special things about supporting local.
Mandie grew up in Queensburgh and studied fashion design at DUT. After her studies she decided to travel to the UK. There she did internships at Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire, after which she landed a ‘dream job’ as bookings editor at Marie Claire. She got married and had her first child in the UK, before the family moved back to South Africa. In the 2000's, after having tried out various career paths such as advertising and interiors, and after the birth of her third child, Mandie took some time out to find out who she was.
“While I was ‘finding myself’ I realised how difficult it was to find the time to shop for clothing! And, when I did get out, I could never find exactly what I was looking for – comfortable, stylish clothing for women on the run.
I started designing clothes for myself and friends and, in 2016, we opened the doors to Trinity, a fashion trove for the stylish, busy woman, in Durban’s Windermere Centre. Last year we opened our second store in Ballito.
I am lucky enough to do what I love, and encourage my children to find their passion and believe that they can be and do anything. I love my life, I love what I do and I hope I can pay it forward in all I do.”
Mandie's aim is to design innovative, contemporary clothes and accessories that appeal to the modern women – reflecting their ever-changing lifestyles.
